80 Years of The New Yorker to Be Offered in Disc Form - New York Times

Even though I already have the sublime Complete Cartoons of The New Yorker, I'm quite certain I'll be picking up this multi-DVD set of every page from every issue of the NYer through Feb 2005. There's a Shouts and Murmurs I fondly remember reading in 9th grade that I've been dying to find for....well, since 9th grade.

Man allegedly sets house afire to kick out crackheads

Ah yes, the old "smoke the smokers out of your house so you can get laid" trick.

not-so-sudden thought, pt. 2

Do they drive like assholes because they're driving BMWs, or are they driving BMWs because they drive like assholes?

Ah, yes. In that case everything's fine.

LCD Soundsystem: show of the year?

Tim has written a nice review of the LCD Soundsystem show in Boston last week. I heartily agree with his sentiments, but to summarize, it was a fucking fantastic. Best show I've seen in a long time, and that includes Thievery Corporation, Spoon, and McLusky.

Hmm. Well, Mclusky was damn good...still and all, LCD Soundsystem kicked total ass, and clobbered barriers between genres, doing some punk, some electronica, dance and noise all at once. At one point I remarked that they're more like Trans Am than Trans Am is. Which of course isn't true, b/c Trans Am avoids vocals, and James Murphy does the vocal thing very entertainingly. But TA is the closest thing I can think of to LCD's "melange," if you will. Will you?

Kodak Announces End Of Black And White Paper Production

I never used Kodak papers (always preferred Ilford and Agfa), but this is still kind of a bummer, no matter what the creeps at Gizmodo might say.

It's summer...

...Shouldn't all you little twerps be at camp?

Edit: Apparently, at some point, I typed the phrase "Should be fuckin', instead I'm bloggin'" into the title of a new post, because Firefox suggested that as an autocompletion for the original title of this post (which started with "Shouldn't").

Well. There you have it. Whatever the circumstances where, I'm glad I rethought that.

Summer Moon Illusion

A little late, but very cool nonetheless. I'm not actually sure which of the numerous explanations I believe, but hey....

I indeed noticed the super-sized moon on Tuesday night (the 21st, before the moon was actually full) when I was doing some late night windsprints with Veloce on Memorial and Storrow Drives. It was crystal clear, fantastically warm and dry, and that big ol' moon was shinin' shinin'.

I've been a naughty boy

Only 19.6 mpg on this last tank.
